De minder gelukkige terugkeer van Joszef Katús naar het land van Rembrandt
Summary
Joszef Katus returns to Amsterdam on 29 April 1966 after an absence of many months spent travelling, mainly in Eastern Europe.
He finds the city completely changed. The Provos have changed the climate of the capital and Joszef divides his time between attempts to resume old friendships and discovering what the Provos stand for. Within the space of a few days he observes the ceremonies and celebrations accompanying the Queen's Birthdav, Labour Day, Remembrance Day and Liberation Day, but comes to realize in this first week of May that he has lost all contact with his old environment and is incapable of establishing new friendships.
