De dans van de reiger
Summary
Psychological thriller about a love triangle, based on a screenplay by Hugo Claus.
The film takes its theme from the mating dance of the heron.
A woman, dissatisfied with her marriage, tries to goad her husband into ‘dancing’ for her, which may at the same time be interpreted as acceptance of the more playful side of life.
The action takes place on an island off the coast of Yugoslavia, where the married couple are on holiday. She begins a flirtation with a ridiculous Dutch tourist in order to force her husband into a sort of action. Edward fakes an attempt at suicide and Elena is finally convinced that he is not indifferent to what she does.
