F.A. Nöggerath jr.
biografie
Franz Anton Nöggerath jr. was de zoon van de Amsterdamse theaterexploitant en filmproducent Franz Anton Nöggerath sr. In 1897 werd hij door zijn vader naar Engeland gestuurd om daar het filmvak te leren bij de The Warwick Trading Company. Bij deze maatschappij begon hij zijn carrière in het laboratorium en als cameraman in onder andere Noorwegen en IJsland. In 1906 richtte hij in Engeland een eigen bedrijfje op dat print- en ontwikkelwerk deed voor filmmaatschappijen.
Nöggerath jr. keerde in december 1908 terug naar Amsterdam om - samen met zijn stiefmoeder - zijn overleden vader op te volgen als filmvertoner en -distributeur. Tussen 1909 en 1913 was hij ook actief als producent: hij produceerde De greep en in stichtte in 1911 een eigen filmstudio in de buurt van Sloten. Daar nam hij in totaal vijftien speelfilms op. De kosten waren echter tehoog en in 1913 werd productie stopgezet. Tot in het begin van de jaren twintig bleef Nöggerath actief als vertoner en distributeur. Daarna verliet hij de filmwereld en ging werken voor een reisbureau.
