Adelqui Migliar
Biography
In 1916 the Chilean actor Adelqui Migliar came from Italy to the Netherlands, where he was cast by director Theo Frenkel to star in the film Genie tegen geweld.
In the years that followed, Migliar became the Latin lover of Dutch cinema. He had leading roles in many films, often starring opposite the Dutch film diva Annie Bos. When Filmfabriek Hollandia began concentrating on the international market, the road to an international career was also opened to Migliar.
In 1921 he settled in England (where he called himself Millar). He founded his own company, and acted in international productions. He also directed a few feature films.
Just before the outbreak of the Second World War, Migliar moved to Argentina, where he continued to work in the film industry until the 1950s. He died in 1956 in his native Chile.
