De inbreker
Summary
A film that takes place on the fringes of Amsterdam, De inbreker is a smoothly constructed thriller with a good deal of humour and a romantic tinge.
Frans Weisz reached a wide audience with this film, his first feature film since Het gangstermeisje. This is due partly to Rijk de Gooyer, then mainly known as a TV comedian, who plays lead character Glimmie with depth and understanding. This sympathetic and clever underworld figure actually serves the cause of justice, more or less against his will, when he is confronted with the carefully planned caper of businessman Borsen. Glimmie is tasked with getting rid of stripper Fanny in a plan that puts the blame on Glimmie. He cannot prevent the crime but, helped by his talent for burglary and assisted by a bright young woman, he makes Borsen pay for his crime.
