Obsessions

A hole in the wall of a rented room in Amsterdam is the starting point of this English-language 'sex and suspense mystery', as Pim de la Parra defines his first feature film, inspired by Hitchcock and a variation on the Rear Window theme.

Rondom het Oudekerksplein

Following a method often used on television of combining monologues and interviews with visual impressions not necessarily having a synchronized relationship with the soundtrack, Roeland Kerbosch set out to give an impression of Amsterdam's 'red light district', right in the heart of the Old City around the historic Old Church.

Alicia

A funny feature film by Wim Verstappen with a moral, but little pretension.

However, there is a touch of feminism to the story of a young, married woman who, on a sudden impulse, leaves her home and family - a husband and two children - because she feels the need to prove herself somewhere and in some way. The film mainly depicts the male reactions to this impudent female ‘escape attempt’, which, according to Western morals, naturally has to fail without anyone getting really hurt.

VD

The tragic downfall of a family which brought it down upon themselves. VD is a satire about the double standards of a nouveau-riche Dutchman.

VD stands for Van Doorn, an unscrupulous manufacturer of processed meats and defective contraceptives. He is the immoral head of his family. In order to inherit his father's factory, he has had to marry his father's mistress and to accept their child as his own. History repeats itself but before things get so far, all the family members have participated in a number of dramatic events.

Wat zien ik?

Blonde Greet immortalised for Dutch readers in the novels of actor-author Albert Mol, is the Irma la Douce type of prostitute with a heart of gold - simple, clever and witty all at once. Piet Römer plays the irresistible social worker in this quick, colourful farce about the ladies of Amsterdam nights and their guardian angels, and their often-harassed costumers.

Allemaal naar bed

Advertised as the Netherlands’ first sex comedy but in fact a dry, documentary-like film about the reasons why people are willing to perform sex scenes in front of a camera.

For the most part the film consists of talking about all kinds of prejudices and difficulties that a sex film, or films with explicit sex scenes, can run into. The censorship board, attitudes of the government and politicians, private frustrations – everything is discussed.

Mens erger je niet!

Hans and Rietje have just got married. He is a truck driver and often away from home. Rietje's mother feels she knows plenty about the life her son-in-law is leading and sets her daughter against him. Rietje gets a job in a hotel and comes into contact there with a film producer, Pim de la Parra, who has a way of walking around in the nude with his secretary. Hans is so disturbed by this contact of his wife's that he becomes responsible for a road accident. When the case is heard, Rietje takes the blame on herself, but Hans is sentenced to five months in jail all the same.
