Les plus belles escroqueries du monde

Summary

Four-part film project with short films by Claude Chabrol, Ugo Gregoretti, Hiromichi Horikawa and Roman Polanski. Each episode plays in a different city: Amsterdam, Paris, Naples and Tokyo. The theme that runs through each of the films is betrayal. Polanski signed up for the episode Amsterdam which takes place in the Netherlands.

In the Amsterdam episode (La Rivère de Diamants), a woman tries to tempt an older man to buy her an expensive necklace in exchange for sex. Once the man has bought the necklace, she runs away and exchanges the necklace for far less than it’s worth in return for parrots.

There was originally a fifth episode that was directed by Jean-Luc Godard and set in Morocco, but this was taken out before the film premiered.
