Ibiza, zon en zonde
Summary
Crime film about a journalist who gets involved with drugs smugglers on the hedonistic island of Ibiza.
In the early 1960s Ibiza became a favourite destination among Dutch artists and writers. The sunny Spanish island could not have been more of a contrast to the sombre post-war dreariness of the Netherlands and proved an inspiration to people like writers Jan Cremer, Cees Nooteboom, Harry Mulisch and photographer Cas Oorthuys.
Growing prosperity also made Ibiza a popular holiday destination and in Ibiza, zon en zonde reporter Armand Laqueue (Aart Staartjes) is filming an item about the island. His girlfriend gets him involved in a conspiracy to smuggle drugs and Laqueue finds out about the dark side of the hedonistic Ibiza lifestyle.
Director Roeland Kerbosch had earlier made the documentary Rondom het Oudekerksplein. Ibiza, zon en zonde was his first feature length film. Journalist Ischa Meijer has a cameo as ‘a tourist from Brabant’. The film was shot almost entirely on location on the island.
