Utrecht

Documentary about the city of Utrecht. This film is dedicated to Mayor Reiger, who had a great deal of influence on the development of Utrecht at the turn of the century. The opening shot is an aerial view of downtown, filmed from the hundred-metre-high Domtoren. Considerable attention is paid to the Domtoren, the Domkerk, the nearby university, and the most important canals. From a boat in the canal, the filmmaker depicts the shipyard basements and the low-lying quays. Many passers-by pose for the camera. Footage is also shot from a moving tram.

Kampen

Documentary about Kampen.

Documentary about Kampen, one of the oldest Dutch Hanseatic cities, located along the IJssel. We see its most important buildings, including the Hoofdcursus, which is the training building for army officers. Officers from the Indische Leger also trained here.

Heerenveen

Compilation film about Heerenveen.

Compilation of a few short items about the city of Heerenveen. The items were probably assembled in subsequent years by a distributor or exhibitor. We see:

• Footage of the carnival in Heerenveen. Much attention is paid to the assembled audience, who at the end of the item are invited to visit the Witte Bioscoop in Heerenveen. This film was presumably produced by this cinema. Local films like this one were often produced during the early years of film.

• Harness races in Heerenveen, and the horse market in Oudeschoot on Whit Monday.
