Paranoia
Summary
The story of a young man traumatised by the Second World War, based on the novella by W.F. Hermans.
Student Arnold Clever is suffering from a progressive mental illness which eventually leads to suicide. His fantasies about the war and his fear and suspicion of what he feels to be a hostile world hasten the process of deterioration, despite the understanding and the devotion of his girlfriend Anna. Arnold Clever may at the same time be regarded as a highly sensitive young man who is unable to conform to a corrupt society and who finally goes under because he is incapable of reaching any sort of compromise with the destructive forces around him.
