Biography
Dutch film director who tried several times in the early 1930s to make a sound film. His first attempts, the films Finale and Terra nova, turned into fiascos. But his third attempt, Dood water, was a success.
Rutten then directed a number of feature films, of which mainly Rubber and Sterren stralen overal (1953) received the most praise.
