Luchtkasteelen

Summary

Alice Stanton is saved from drowning by Jack, a fisherman. A strong friendship springs up between them. The castles in the air which the honest fisherman builds are shattered when he realises how impossible it is for him to marry the charming girl of a social position loftier than his own. Although he has been instrumental in saving her life, he is unsuccessful in winning her love. Six months later, he watches from the door of the church when Alice is married to another. Soon after, Jack is shipwrecked, and with a vision of Alice he dies.
