De leeuw en de muis

Summary

At the instigation of a secret society of blackmailers, which has her brother Stephen in its power and threatens to kill him, Olga Beverley steals some valuable political documents from Justin O'Reilly, a Secret Service agent. Having obtained the papers, she meets and marries Dick Sands, a rich financier. Sands becomes intensely jealous of O'Reilly, because some time before he had seen him give Olga some money. Olga gets the papers to the secret society through her cousin Clo, nicknamed Muis (Mouse), but they turn out to be blank. The society demands that she at once get the real papers, or her brother will die. Meanwhile, some pearls which Sands had given his wife are stolen by an agent of the society, and Mouse has managed to rob O'Reilly's safe and obtain the real papers. The husband imagines that his wife has bought the papers with the pearls, and returns them to O'Reilly. Then Olga explains everything, and Sands rescues her brother. With the help of O'Reilly, Mouse tracks the criminals and gets the pearls. O'Reilly and Mouse have fallen in love and decide to get married.
