Summary

A sculptor falls in love with his model, but his financial position makes it impossible for them to marry. Matters are further complicated by the appearance of a certain count - and a lot of money. The model's mother does all in her power to bring her daughter and the count together. The latter, in order to please the model, agrees to purchase a marble bust of her, executed by the sculptor. Unhappily, the sculptor has been obliged to pawn the work in question. But as the count is a little short-sighted, they think of a ruse: the model will pose as the bust, and if a sale is effected the bust itself may be redeemed. The deception naturally affords considerable amusement, but the ruse is successful, and the sculptor eventually gets the model for his bride.
