Biography
Thijs Chanowski is best known in the Netherlands as the producer of a well-loved Dutch television series called 'De Fabeltjeskrant' (1968-1989). In the 1960s and 1970s he also made feature films, including Toestanden and Camping. He won the prestigious Prix d'Italia for the latter film. In addition to this, Chanowski worked from 1972 onwards as an advisor at Philips, developing the first interactive laserdisc. In 1990 he founded a multimedia lab to develop interactive search engines such as the Aquabrowser. In 1995, Chanowski was appointed professor of multimedia interaction at the University of Amsterdam.
