Edwin de Vries
Biography
Edwin de Vries is a Dutch actor and screenplay writer. He is the son of actor Rob de Vries and made his film debut at the age of 12 in the film De laatste passagier by Jef van der Heijden. He studied at the Amsterdam Theatre School and was co-founder of theatre group Onafhankelijk Toneel. After this, he performed with a number of other companies, including Baal and Toneelgroep Amsterdam.
De Vries has also acted in many films. For example, he played alongside Monique van de Ven - his future wife - in Een maand later and in Leedvermaak and De hoogste tijd by Frans Weisz. He wrote screenplays for the film Left Luggage (in which he also acted) and The Discovery of Heaven by Jeroen Krabbé, as well as for Zomerhitte, Monique van de Ven's directorial debut.
He received a Golden Calf for the screenplay for The Discovery of Heaven in 2002.
De Vries served together with Jeroen Krabbé and Ate de Jong on the board of directors at Mulholland Pictures.
