Zomerzotheid

Summary

A film adaptation of the famous girls book 'Een zomerzotheid' by Cissy van Marxveldt; the film has since been lost.

In the summer of 1936, footage was shot in and around Zeist for the film adaptation of the then wildly popular girls book 'Een zomerzotheid' by Cissy van Marxveldt. The film was directed by Hans van Meerten, and produced by Hemmy Berg. The film was meant to radiate the same youthful spirit as Jonge harten; a number of actors from that film also play roles in Zomerzotheid.

The final scenes were supposed to be shot at Cinetone Studios, but were never completed; likewise, the negative of Zomerzotheid has never been located. EYE's photo archive has about four hundred photos of the film's set, as well as publicity photos, that paint a good picture of what the film's creators had originally envisioned.
