Wanna Get In On It?
Summary
Wanna Get In On It is one of the dance films that René Hazekamp produced annually in the 1980s and early 1990s. It is a dance improvisation with a strong emphasis on physical theatre.
Two young men dance on an industrial estate in Rotterdam’s Maashaven. They are watched by a woman. Another woman comes over, looks, and briefly takes part in the improvisation. The audience consists of workers who happened to be there.
Hazekamp says about the film:
‘When we got only 5% of the money we needed for our next project, Peter Kho, Benito Strangio and I decided to improvise; we made a new plan, called a few friends, and shot Wanna Get In On It in just one beautiful day. The film stock was donated by Sacha Vierny, the D.P. who shot L’Annee dernière a Marienbad. Casting of the extras you see here was done by the silo we shot in front of. The film won many prizes.’
