Kermisgasten

Summary

Unbeknownst to them, circus artists Jan and his sister Annie are wearing the stolen jewellery of the famous Jolly sisters during a performance. After a wild chase, the jewels are returned to their rightful owners. Jan and Annie pocket the reward money and Truus falls into husband Jan's arms.

Kermisgasten was directed by Jaap Speyer whose earlier successes included De Jantjes. The star cast included actors Johan Kaart, Henriëtte Davids and Sylvain Poons. Wim Kan, who went on to cabaret fame in later years, also had a small part. In spite of the famous faces, the film wasn't a success. The production was troubled by a lack of money and, in later years, Sylvain Poons liked to tell the story about how he would struggle to get tightfisted producer Jos Jacobi ('What a piece of work he was!') to part with his day's wages.
