In Need of Space
Summary
An abstract animated film that only uses a rotating cube shape of a fixed size. The cube is the same size as the film frame. Thus, it turns out that the vertical lines and areas of colour that rhythmically pass by are actually the ribs and surfaces of the cube, and are created by its rotations. There is a constant alternation between lines and surfaces, hard and soft colours, transparency and opacity.
Bart Vegter was a strong believer in the cinematic power of experiencing his films projected on the big screen. Please consider this while watching the digital representation of the original work.
