Ecce homo - zie de mens
Summary
Ecce homo narrates, almost silently, the story of a man and a woman who meet once again and try to repeat an experience that they had previously shared. They exchange glances in a bus, and the framing and editing alone make palpable the tension between the two. According to the filmmaker, through a fragmented zoom out, a ‘move towards the character’ is made.
Unlike Hazekamp’s previous dance films, this film refers to the tradition of the feature film, and in that sense can be understood as a first step or study for a long film. Hazekamp calls it a ‘star vehicle for Hannie van den Hoven’. But in addition to the actors, the industrial landscape surrounding Rotterdam plays an equally important role.
