Summary
Theo Regout and his traveling companion Felix Schimmelpenninck van der Oye made a road trip through the Sahara from December 17, 1930 to February 2, 1931.
Regout and Schimmelpennick drove to Marseille; from there they made the journey by boat to Algiers. From Algiers, they traveled through the Atlas Mountains and the Sahara toward Gao in order to arrive at Lake Chad.
From there they traveled to Fort Lamy (N’Djamena), the capital of Chad (then in French Equatorial Africa) to arrive in Karnak Birni, Cameroon. Here sufferers from sleeping sickness are cared for and nursed.
They return via Gao, the Sahara and Algiers.
Regout has included in the film microscopic images of sleeping sickness and the medical treatment of patients.
