Orion-Profilti
history
Orion-Profilti was created in March of 1931 from a merger of the Hague-based company Orion Filmfabriek and Filmfabriek Profilti. The firms wanted to join forces to compete with the third major Dutch producer of cinema newsreels, the Haarlem-based Filmfabriek Polygoon.
The race to launch the first Dutch sound newsreel was won by Polygoon: they released the Hollandsch Nieuws newsreel to cinemas on May 29, 1931. Orion-Profilti followed suit on July 3, 1931, with the sound newsreel Nederland in Klank en Beeld.
