After a panoramic shot of Schoonhoven, we see its most important streets, squares, and buildings, with a special focus on the newly planted gardens and the departure of a radar-boat on the river Lek. The film ends with images of silversmiths at work. Schoonhoven enjoys national renown because of its silver industry.

Negende katholiekendag te Nijmegen 23 september 1917

Reportage about the ninth ‘Catholic Day’ in Nijmegen.

This reportage opens with urban images of Nijmegen, including shots of the park Het Valkhof, the St. Stevens Church, and the Waag. These images are followed by the celebration of the ninth ‘Catholic Day’ on September 23, 1917, with shots of people departing from the Roman Catholic church, the procession of various associations to the Monseigneur Hamer monument, and the speech given by Mr. N.H.M. Franken to a large crowd. Wreaths and flowers are placed by the monument. A number of Catholic dignitaries then leave by car or coach.

Mooi Nederland Zeist

This film by Willy Mullens shows the sights of Zeist. Filmed from a tram, we see the Utrechtseweg, with imposing villas on both sides of the street, including the country house ‘Ma retraite'. The film also contains footage of the ‘villa quarter’, the town hall, the Hotel Figi on Het Rond, and the Donkerelaan, as well as Slot Zeist, surrounded by woods and water.

Medemblik

Documentary about Medemblik.

In an extensive introduction, this documentary refers to the long history of the town of Medemblik, which begins as early as 344 AD. The town was built on the site where, according to legend, the Frisian King Radboud (c. 680 - 719) built a fortress.

Koninklijk bezoek Groningen

Working footage of a royal visit to Groningen.

In 1922, Queen Wilhelmina, Prince Henry and Princess Juliana visited Groningen. Filmmaker Willy Mullens shot diverse footage of the event, showing the royal family riding through the city, attending church services, and visiting a gathering on an athletic field. Mullens also filmed a blind girl offering flowers to the Queen.

The filmmaker himself – with camera in hand – also briefly appears in the frame.
