Re-action in A
Summary
A man is alone in a factory. His loneliness is visualized using different camera techniques: pixilation, time lapse shots with long exposures that make it seem as if the man is fading in space, and close-ups.
The nervous editing, improvised synthesizer music, the lack of a narrative structure, the strongly contrasting film footage: these are all stylistic characteristics that we know from the films of Zwartjes, and that we also find in the films of his students. As a study in form, Re-action in A typifies the work made at the Vrije Academie Psychopolis in The Hague during the second half of the 1970s.
