Kitty Tailleur
Summary
Regarded with suspicion and hostility by the other guests at a Riviera hotel, the beautiful but mysterious Kitty Tailleur is befriended by Robert Lucy, a young widower, and his sister Janette. Robert falls in love with Kitty and, finding that she is fond of children, asks her to marry him, and sends for his children to meet her. The younger child takes to Kitty at once, but the other one divines that she is a bad woman. Meanwhile, Kitty has received a visit from Wilfred Marston, whose mistress she has been in the past and who wants her to return to him. Marston warns Kitty that if she marries Robert without telling him the truth her secret is certain to be discovered later. Unable to resist her longing for a home and children, Kitty accepts Robert. Then, realizing the hopelessness of her position, she tells him her story, and so renounces her happiness.
