De verloren weddenschap
Summary
Because he thinks that all the fuss about electricity is superfluous, a man bets his friend that for a full week he will be able to get along without making use of electricity. After a single day this appears to present insurmountable problems, as the modern world has changed over completely to using electricity. When the man gets into a row with his wife and the maidservant about the lack of electricity needed to run the household, his cup is full. He confesses to his friend that he has lost the bet and admits that electricity is indispensable.
