Biography
Johan Heesters was a Dutch-German actor and operetta singer. In the 1920s and 1930s, he acted in several Dutch feature films, after which he moved to Germany.
In Nazi Germany, he caused a major furore as a revue star.
Even after the war, he enjoyed great popularity in West Germany, but in the Netherlands he still had to endure widespread criticism because of his performances during the war. Heesters performed untill his death and was considered to be the oldest performing artist in the world.
