Jan Ketelaars
Biography
Jan Ketelaars studied at the Vrije Academie in The Hague from 1974 to 1977, where he mainly worked under the leadership of Paul de Mol. From 1977 to 1981 he made a series of short experimental films. In 1984, he co-directed De stad with Paul van den Wildenberg. Eight years later, they collaborated again on the film Terrain Vague. This was followed in 1996 by Thuis, a third film with Van den Wildenburg, in which they again showed their view on Dutch society.
In addition to being a filmmaker, Ketelaars is also a producer for Jura Filmprodukties (a production company in which fellow filmmakers Ruud Monster and Jan Heijs were also involved) and Geelprodukt. Ketelaars also did the camerawork for a number of films made by others, and he also teaches at the audiovisual department of the Hogeschool voor de Kunsten in Utrecht.
