Biography

Fred Tammes is a Dutch cameraman. He started his career at Cinetone Studios in Duivendrecht and worked as a camera assistent on a number of Dutch feature films which were made there around 1960, such as Dorp aan de rivier, Makkers staakt uw wild geraas and De overval. He did his first independent camerawork for Bert Haanstra with the films Zoo and Delta phase I. Thereafter he worked on a number of short films until around 1970, when he shifted to making longer feature films with directors such as Eric Terpstra, Roeland Kerbosch and Karst van der Meulen. With the latter he also made three television series for young people.

In 1982, Tammes left the Netherlands for Great Britain, where he mainly worked for television and shot a number of episodes of the detective series Dalziel and Pascoe. In 2003 he moved to Australia.
