Anton van Munster

Biography

Anton van Munster was a cameraman and the right-hand man of filmmaker Bert Haanstra. He did the camerawork for more than 40 feature films and documentaries and is considered to be one of the Netherlands' best cameramen.

Van Munster graduated in 1961 from the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia in Rome. Via cameraman Eddy van der Enden he landed a job as a cameraman for the Haanstra-film Fanfare in 1958. Starting in 1963 he worked on documentaries and feature films for Haanstra. In 1990 he started working frequently with nature filmmaker Hugo van Lawick. Anton van Munster also taught for years at the Film Academy in Amsterdam. He received numerous prestigious awards for his camerawork.
