André van den Heuvel
Biography
Actor André van den Heuvel debuted in 1950 in the play Amphytrion by Jean-Pierre Giraudoux. Before that he had played as an amateur in traditional passion plays in his birthplace Tegelen.
Van den Heuvel has performed nearly every major role in every major play, ranging from Shakespeare to Euripides and from Vondel to Brecht. He won the Theo d'Or Prize (Dutch theatre award) twice. Moreover, he has also acted in many television series, including De weg, De partizanen, Kunt u mij de weg naar Hamelen vertellen, mijnheer?, Oud geld, Baantjer, Wilhelmina and Gebroken rood. On the silver screen, Van den Heuvel played in films such as Dorp aan de rivier, Amsterdam Affair (Gerry O' Hara, 1968), Mira, Wat zien ik?, Dag dokter and Kunst en vliegwerk.
