Summary

Romantic comedy set in a beach hotel.

Novelist Philip van Noort wants to employ a beautiful young secretary, much to his wife Inez' disgust. After a particularly nasty scene, Philip packs his bags and leaves. Shortly after, his father-in-law arrives from Indonesia. He mistakes Willem van Scheltema, a friend of the family, for his son-in-law. Inez is eager to hide the quarrel from her father and plays along. Willem falls in love with Fientje Peters, the secretary in question. She has another admirer in Mr Bakker, the chief clerk at the Hotel Palace ter Duin who in turn is worshipped by his own secretary, Miss Molenaar. At a party the whole tangle is sorted out and everyone ends up with the right partner.

Fientje Peters - poste restante is one of six 'official' multi language films (films that were made in several different languages) that were made during the 1930s in cooperation with foreign distributors. The German version of Fientje Peters is called Hilde Peters Postlagernd.
