Eindhoven optocht
Summary
Reportage about an advertising parade in Eindhoven.
The reportage shows an advertising parade of Eindhoven’s tradespeople. The film opens with the advertising cars of five companies and retailers: Piet Beelen & Co (for safes and vault doors); the tobacco shop Insulinde van J. Strijbos Rutten; Antoon Donders’s ‘Decates’ Tryes; Jos van de Laak’s ‘Bloemensalon’; and the construction-materials firm Bouwmaterialen N.V. H.J.V.A. v/h Jan Booms. On the last car, construction workers lay bricks in a wall, followed by brief footage of the parade, which was attended by many spectators. It is an almost carnivalesque event, with floats and life-size dolls.
