Summary

Portrait of filmmaker, draftsman and musician Frans Zwartjes (1927 - 2017).

Not only because of his films, but also because of his music and his drawings, Frans Zwartjes has made a name as an idiosyncratic artist. An artist who likes to share his vision with young upcoming artists. This was also the case with filmmaker Ruud Monster, who in 1971 got to know Zwartjes at the Vrije Academie in The Hague as a teacher who would rather not teach, but shares his views with you. In his film, Monster shows Zwartjes' view of the world around him, which always reveals the maker in him and the humor with which he comments on what he sees. At the time of the film, Zwartjes was still guiding young people at the Vrije Academie one morning a week. Monster also shows Zwartjes at home, composing in his studio where his entire past is packed together: a film projector, a film camera and a digital camera on a tripod; everything ready and stand-by: 'When something happens, I must be able to start immediately'.
