Soverdi
history
The Catholic congregation Soverdi (an abbreviation of Societas Divini verbi, or Society of the Divine Word) was founded in 1875 by Father Arnold Jackson for the purpose of spreading the Catholic faith to the colonies.
In the 1920s and 1930s, Soverdi also acted as a production company and commissioned a number of Dutch missionary films.
From 1911 to 1944, the congregation had mission houses in locations including Steyl and Uden.
