In 1921, Alex Benno made the short fiction film De droom van Hadt-je-me-maar, based on Cornelis de Gelder, an Amsterdam drifter who was also briefly one of its city councillors. The company Satiriek Film Cie was created expressly for the production of this film. Thereafter, nothing more was heard of this company.
