Linda Christian
Biography
Linda Christian (the pseudonym of Blanca Rosa Welter) was born in Mexico to a Dutch engineer named Gerard J. Welter and his Mexican wife, Blanca Rosa, who was of Spanish/German/French origins. Due to the nature of her father's work, she grew up in many different parts of the world.
Christian was just about to begin her studies in medicine when she was persuaded by her idol, the actor Errol Flynn, to go to Hollywood and become an actress. Shortly after she arrived in Hollywood, she was spotted by producer Louis B. Mayer's secretary. Christian ended up signing a seven-year contract with Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer.
Linda Christian was married to Tyrone Power and Edmund Purdom. Her daughter Romina Power was, together with Al Bano, part of a famous pop music duo in the 1980s.
