Willy van Hemert

Biography

Willy van Hemert made Jenny, the very first Dutch feature film in colour. Ultimately, however, he directed more television productions than feature films. He was even known as 'the series man'. Until the 1960s he was permanently employed by public broadcaster VARA. His best-known television series were De glazen stad (1968), Bartje (1972-1973), De kleine waarheid (1970-1972) and Dagboek van een herdershond (1978-1980).

Besides this, Van Hemert acted in several cabaret shows and plays during the 1940s, and in the 1950s and 1960s, he wrote lyrics.
