Carl Pfläging, originally from Germany, was the general manager of the Rotterdam theatre Circus-Variété. Pfläging, who began as a singer, came to Rotterdam in 1869 to work for the Hoogduitse Opera. This musical company was led by his brother Jean Pfläging, whom he succeeded in 1873. In 1883, Pfläging became the general manager of the Place des Pays-Bas variety theatre, and in 1891 of the Tivoli-Wintertuin.

In 1894, Pfläging was appointed general manager of the new Circus-Variété on Stationsplein in Rotterdam. In 1897, he started screening films at this theatre. In that same year, the theatre showed a brief film portrait of him.

After his sudden death in 1904, Pfläging was succeeded by Sol Kinsbergen.
