Zwaarmoedige verhalen voor bij de centrale verwarming

Summary

Film with four episodes, each based on a short story by Heere Heeresma.

Despite four promising directors taking on the stories, Heeresma distanced himself from the project before it reached cinemas. Bas van der Lecq's Meneer Frits en juffrouw Leni (Mister Frits and Miss Leni) tells of ‘how a cow catches a hare’ - or of how an office girl and her boss are packed away for the rest of their lives in a stifling bourgeois existence. Guido Pieters' De smalle oude man (The Old Man) shows a grumpy old man (Lex Goudsmit) lonely at Christmas. Ernie Damen directed Zeeman tussen wal en schip (Sailor between Ship and Shore), about the sad fate of an old salt who was done wrong by a lady-clarinet player in a night-club. In Nouchka van Brakel's Een winkelier komt weerom (A Shopkeeper is not Returning), John Kraaykamp sr stars as fisherman out fishing with a postman (Rijk de Gooyer) who could be Death himself.
