Aan boord van de Sabina
Summary
The skipper of the barge "Sabina", father of an 18-year-old daughter, engages a new mate. The two youngsters are soon attracted to each other. Another admirer gives the girl an expensive present. This saddens the mate, because he does not have enough money to do the same. Theft is the answer to his problem, but results in his landing in gaol. The skipper has to travel on, and his daughter must pull the heavy barge along the canals. After his six months in gaol, the mate goes back to the "Sabina", where the skipper and his daughter welcome him.
